Chapter One

"Oh my god..."

Clutching the note in her hand, Henriette gasped silently as she read the urgent message.

'SOS
Somebody left a ransom note saying that they'll bomb the town if we don't pay the price! Come back immediately!!
Ez and Basher'

She held the rolled up paper and the bottle it came from shakily in her fists. Some lunatic was gonna bomb her hometown for no reason. Unless they pay the price, it said. What price? Her crew didn't do anything wrong. They only stole from pirates, and no one but the one who was being stolen from really considered that wrong. Before they had met, Ez had only stolen things around the town to survive, and nothing more – and it was usually from corrupted shop owners that went crazy whenever they layed eyes on anything remotely relating a thief. And Basher – well, Basher was a different story. He hadn't stolen all that much, and when he did, he usually got noticed, and often ended up in a fist fight. And Henriette herself -  she was the one who had been a thief the longest. Although, no one other than her family nemesis, Clockwerk had hated her – let alone her gang – enough to destroy her own town and kill the hundreds of people in it. It just wasn't right! And even if Clockwerk was the main suspect, he hadn't been seen for more than twenty years; her father Rioichi had fought  with him years ago, and he hadn't been seen since.

Sighing, Henriette got up from the dock she was sitting on, and boarded her ship. She showed the note and explained the situation to a now 18-year-old Tennessee Kid Cooper, who took the news quite interestingly. He saw it as the perfect opportunity to start his life of real crimes, and was quite enthusiastic about it. Still, he showed empathy for her, and understood her urgent situation. She shot him with multiple questions, making sure he was ready, including the question: did he have a gang ready? Tennessee shook his head no, answering that he wasn't 100% sure he was even gonna get one.

"I'm tellin' ye now," Henriette acknowledged. "Get a gang, or yer life's gonna be miserable. So far, the only Cooper in history to survive without a gang is my father, and its only because he's far more independent than the rest of us."

"Naw, he's just a loner," Tennessee muttered sarcastically. Henriette shot him a cold glare.

"Because he was independent," she repeated with a low but noticeable growl.

"Alright, fine, I'll get one... later.." He got up from the couch he was sitting on, and started to walk to his room. "But before you go, I got a li'l somthin' to show ya. Just wait here." He entered his room, signaling for his mom to stay in her position. Henriette just smirked and leaned against the side of the ship. Just then, Tennessee walked back into the base of the ship with something holsted carefully in his hands. He handed the object to her, and she carefully examined it. I was a six pack revolver gun with a curved handle, shaped like a 'C' for 'Cooper'. Henriette could tell that it was hand made with not a lot of updated resources, but it still looked fantastic anyway. She smiled and sighed.

"I finally finished it," Tennessee finally said. Henriette vaguely  remembered him saying close to about nine years ago that he was planning to craft his own weapon. And it didn't take long before he started. Because he didn't have them, he had to steal all of his resources and materials. Most of the things around, however, were very cheap, and weren't all that great, so they were both astonished at how well the finished project turned out. "You like it?"

Henriette nodded and smiled. "It's... amazing! I love it!" She admitted, handing the weapon back to him. "I got somethin' to give ye, also." She reached into her pouch, and pulled out a medium sized brown and gold book. Once he caught sight of it, Tennessee knew exactly what it was: The Thievius Raccoonus – the book of past generations' greatest thief moves. Anyone who read it learned to be exceptionally sneaky, and could easily learn to become a master thief in a matter on months. "I should've given you this a long time ago, but you seemed too busy at the time," she explained, handing the ancient book to him. He smiled, and put the book aside. He pulled her into a hug and sighed.

"I sure am gonna miss ya," he admitted.

"Seems the feeling's mutual," Henriette agreed, gently pulling herself away from him. "But hopefully I can see ye soon. Be good." She patted Tennessee on the shoulder before walking up the stairs to the deck of the ship. Tennessee watched from the outside as Henriette waved goodbye and started to sail away. He, too, waved in reply, feeling a tinge of sadness disrupt his usually enthusiastic attitude. But he shook his head. He may have lost someone dear – temporarily or permanently, depending on how the adventure went – but he did gain the opportunity of finally starting his own adventures and heists, and he wasn't about to let it get in the way.

Walking away from the dock he was standing on, Tennessee begun his long journey.
well there you go - you have chapter one of my new story. i actually think this might be a long fanfic! but i can't be sure. ah well.

well, to sum this up, Henriette needs to go back to BBB (Blood Bath Bay), leaving Tennessee on his own. though, he doesn't mind the situation all too much, and sees it as the perfect opportunity to start his own adventures. with a new weapon and his family book, The Thievius Raccoonus, now in his possession, he starts his journey.

also, little side note: i'm not dissing Rioichi. i just saw him as the kind of person who would be more antisocial and independant and "a loner" than the rest of the Coopers. again, in other words, i'm not the one who "owns" him, i'll leave that job to someone else.

like i said, though - the beginning chapters are kind of crappy and boring. though, in chapter 3, you get your first little shread of drama, of which, i'm not going to tell you about.

ok, enough talk from me - hope you like it!
